Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Some more insights from the weekend: this time on watching the Oscars. The last time I was able to watch the Oscars in full was the year "Titanic" was nominated, which was also the rare year that not only were all the contenders for best picture were shown in Manila before the awards, but that I watched them all. This year I haven't even watched a single one of the nominees for best picture, or any of the performances of the ones nominated for acting distinction, except for "Ratatouille", "Enchanted", "The Golden Compass", "Norbit", "Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End", "Transformers" and the technical runaway "Bourne Ultimatum". My point is: if there's one thing besides sitting down for hours and watching trailers that make me want to return to the cinema, it's seeing awards shows like this one, which get me all curious to find out what made these films outstanding. Chat, Justin and I almost watched "There Will Be Blood" in Gateway last Monday, except that we would have caught the 6:10pm showing of the three-hour long movie. "Juno" was also out everywhere, but Chat wasn't in the mood for that. Besides, we really wanted to view "No Country for Old Men", the winner and not in release. Well, the best assurance I have now is that since these are honored films, that the producers will be rushing to ride the hype and come out with the DVDs that will make it here soon. @@ In other news, I just came from a permanency board hearing that enlightened me on several things: first that there is still attendance checking going on as shown by the records the administration has. That according to the higher ups, unless there is a "problem" with the faculty member, permanency is "a default". Ah well, I'll write about the others next time, same Bat Channel. Session 2045 wants to stop being just a spectator in all levels. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
