Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. So the last college faculty meeting with the present dean was yesterday. He left off the most important topic till the end, so that's what I'll do too. I was surprised when he told me I had to be present for the formal student awards dinner on Friday next week, to be belatedly "honored" for that outstanding teacher shtick from two years ago. Part of me thinks it's just a last minute show of appreciation slash apology to those he will be leaving hanging. I really didn't want to go in the first place, because it - for no discernable reason - is called the "guild" awards, and has a category for "best couple" (which already has me afraid of what people will do next year to be nominated in that category) and has a category for "most comic teacher" that includes one nominee who is only funny in the eyes of the students because of how single-mindedly intent he is in lectures. Besides that, we have to dress up, and I'm required to attend the dinner that we have to pay for. Not too late to develop a last minute illness. Now, on to the main topic. The dean had a difficult time speaking, repeating the start of sentences several times and even leaving other statements begun hanging, which made everyone even more drawn towards hearing what he had to say are his reasons for leaving. Which basically is a difference of leadership style, factored in with his not being sure if his resistance with some changes is because of his previous position as executive vice president in starting to implement the plan to be scrapped. He was avoiding talking about specifics, as he shared the idea with the brother president about not wanting to poison the remaining faculty to the administration to be left behind. Didn't stop some people from voicing out though essentially, "If you can't take the situation, how else could we stay?" And I'll continue with this in a succeeding post, or this will be too long for today. Session 2055 thinks, "Just get up and leave already". Class dismissed.
