Academic/Personal: Assumed Promises Beyond Presence

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

It's Election Day for the college Student Council today, so I'm on top of that.

For some reason, the dean disapproved the request of one political party to conduct a room-to-room campaign, even though it is allowed in at least the main campus of the district.

But they were still able to conduct a "noise barrage" at the cafeteria yesterday, as well as slipping posters under the deadline for posting, which are prominently displayed for the students to see today.

@@ Speaking of the dean, just an addendum to what I was talking about yesterday.

Some co-teachers in math and engineering and I yesterday were having lunch at the cafeteria. Even though we saw that the dean was reading a newspaper at one of the tables, we sat somewhere else.

For his dessert though he moved to our table, and the first thing he asked me was about my studies for next term, as if I would still agree to it without him at the helm anymore. Maybe he's thinking he will tell the associate dean about his plans to supervise.

That took all of thirty seconds though, after which he moved on to another co-teacher and his graduate studies plan, for which they had another - and longer - discussion, especially since the teacher wants to change majors or schools, because of the double difficulty of going to a school so far away and in which the teachers require the students to be at their beck and call.

In the meantime I talked to the secretary at the next table, who for the second time this term has made me her clerk, having some part-time and full-time faculty contracts notarized.

The first time it was to get an SSS form for the dean, for which I had to leave the library and rush to the accounting office window since she sent me a text message at nearly 5pm.

That's two strikes. Not going to agree to a third time they want me to be their errand boy and at the same time concentrate on the studies they want me to prioritize over my lectures.

Session 2059 expects teachers to still follow his orders after leaving. Class dismissed.
