Mood: Presenting As Little Air Resistance as Possible Read/Post Comments (1) |
2008-03-25 9:21 AM Academic/Personal: So Much For Planning Things Ahead of Time Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Well, here we have another example of railroad-type management again. This Saturday we have the college faculty workshop, not the first time that we will be having it before the term ends, but to accommodate the schedule of the then-executive vice president now-dean. What's annoying is that they only informed us today that it's on Saturday, it's just in school and that it will be from 9am until 9pm so that we could have a "cocktail dinner" afterwards (whatever that means) as a send off to our boss. At the very least, I really will be celebrating the fact that these are the last few weeks that I will have to suffer through these. But what if I was wanting to keep that weekend open for friends? Am I supposed to travel 40 km that late in the night afterwards just to catch up and arrive when everyone has wound down? I definitely will be at my most anti-social during that event, especially during the parts where they want us to be sentimental to the one departing. I don't believe that I've mentioned it hear, but three of the kiss-ass teachers I was talking about in the last meeting even stood up and gave him a standing ovation when the Student Council president gave him a special award (just like they did the Head of Discipline and the Office of Student Affairs secretary). I'm sure they also have something dramatic planned out for this Saturday. Well, more fodder for negativity here, I'd say. So much for following the Dalai Lama's teachings then. It's so difficult to be just a reed bending and not breaking in the wind of today's society. Session 2083 borrows a joke from Whoopi: "Always say something good about those leaving. He's leaving. Good." Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
