A/P: A Select Few Who Believe They Know What's Best for the Students

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

There is a part of me that's irritated that we apparently (yes I'm talking about the spoilers to the institutional workshop activities) have to look outside the campus for someone effective who can lead our teambuilding activities, compared to the previous years, which is ironic considering that the theme for the leadership camp this year seems to be that two teachers and the student volunteers they favor even though they're not enrolled anymore (and for whom they're very unobjectively pushing special awards to be given during the graduation rites) could do the work done last year by eight teachers who didn't even ask for pay for their time and effort.

I would agree if for all the student volunteers we're talking about leaders who've worked throughout the recently concluded school year and now this is the culmination where they talk about what they've learned in their being immersed in that kind of work, but two of them had already proven their worth last year, so it seems like a desperate attempt to still nurture their self proclaimed messianic complex of always being on top of student activities, when part of the message they do want to impart is that leaders (particularly in the transitory nature of the school setting) should learn when to let go of the institution they established and let them flourish (or sink) on their own.

I mean if they really want to be continually participating, then maybe they should get a job in campus instead of riding on the coattails of the head of the program whose high esteem of them they cling to in the face of flak from other sectors.

Yes I'm cramming a lot of detail into run-on sentences, but I don't want to expound.

Well, except for this: there are times when pushing your own agenda regardless of what other people thing is wrong. You should learn to compromise, and not just band together with those who thing similar to you and bemoan "they just don't understand us, but we'll forge ahead with our ideas".

And just because someone who is suggesting something that would be helpful to your overall cause was obviously and publicly wrong about something in the past not completely related is not reason to dismiss their suggestions.

If you want to get feedback only from perfect people - and that definitely does not include administrators of whom you are critical but that you have to deal with to get budget approval for your activities - then I guess you'll only be listening to God whom you believe will be speaking from inside your own heart, since you clearly don't hear a big booming voice from the sky.

Session 2123 doesn't see that persons exist who mean well despite their flaws in other aspects, who, as seen from their choice of profession, really do care for the students and want to help them, and they didn't corner that market. Class dismissed.
