A/P: Times Have Changed, But Some People Have Not

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

It is so sad when some people who used to be in administrative positions cannot let go for the younger generation even when they reach retiring age, which explains why there are politicians who act similarly.

They are control freaks, and cannot bear to think of someone "ruining" their program.

The stiff-back I was talking about in the student accessible version was first brought to my attention during the first institution-wide workshop, where she, before everyone left for R&R after dinner, talked about lights out at 10pm as if we were a military academy.

Of course a lot of people scoffed at her "order" under their breaths, and proceeded to party way noisily after midnight anyway.

The second time I heard her, it was on the last day of one of the batches of the retreat.

In one of the meals earlier (it wasn't buffet style) there were some who arrived late and there wasn't any food left for them.

Ms. Stiff Back, when the opportunity arose to for people to give their comments about the retreat, and a lot of those who spoke beforehand gave positive reflections, instead berated everyone.

First she scolded those who were complaining about not having anything to eat, saying it was a retreat and it was supposed to be about "suffering" which means she would have been a perfect companion to the Albino in "The Da Vinci Code".

But it didn't stop there: she also condemned those who ate too much, again citing that it was a retreat and not a resort/party.

In other words, everyone's actions were deplorable for her. Which is great: treat all equally shabbily; play no favorites.

Session 2139 doesn't have the word "adapt" in her vocabulary. Class dismissed.
