2008-06-06 3:42 PM A/P: A Chance to Affect A Student and the School's Future In My Hands Again Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. I got a new class today. And Ephraim is my student again - at last. It started when our new graduate and newly hired teacher, who has thirty five students in his graphics one class, asked the college secretary for a larger venue than any of the classrooms, because two students per table making drafting plates was a little crowded. The secretary said she will talk to the technician in charge of the media lab and get back to Mr. New Teacher about it when it's been ironed out. Before that happened, the secretary called again and asked to speak to Slacker Co-Teacher. When he put down the phone, he blamed New Teacher for almost having added another class to his load. At that time the secretary was contacting me about it, and I had accepted. That's one of the differences between SCT and me. I almost never turn down a class that is offered to me, even if - or especially if? - it's overload. He, of course, declined because it is at 8am and would be his only class at that time, despite being extra pay. Shows exactly what his comparative priority is. So I accepted the class, since the students don't have to pay more, but the school now has to pay two teachers for the same tuition payment instead of one, and including room air conditioner an lights. Better that more money go to the teachers in that kind of situation. The only problem so far seems to be that students only finish one plate a day since it meets for one and a half hours twice a week instead of three hours a week like two years ago. So far that means Ephraim can catch up on the plates, even if he did show up at 851am. But I hope that's the first and last time he does that, thinking probably that New Teacher would have passed him even if he always arrived late. Session 2201 can't do anything about the section change. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
