A/P: Teachers Should Think About How Repeaters Negatively Influence New Students

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Just to clarify something from yesterday: it was the someone from registrar's office that divided the Graphics One class, and since she knew that Mr. New Teacher is a graduate from here, for whom there had already been jokes about passing the students in that class who were also his classmates before, she had placed all the upperclassmen in my section.

That is why Ephraim is in my class, even though she was apprehensive about that, I assured her that whatever he claimed before isn't true and I am not mad at him to the point of singling him out in my class, but I won't give him any special favors either when it comes to grading his performance (or lack thereof) compared to that of his classmates.

Besides that, he really should be putting in more effort now because otherwise the freshmen would think they could coast along the same way as him and still pass in their subjects.

One more thing: I told the registrar's personnel (since she told me he only enrolled that subject when he found out that I wasn't the teacher, that is was Mr. New Graduate) that if he plans of avoiding all classes I teach, then he will never graduate.

Worse comes to worst though, if he is given the same deadline as two of the students of the previous batch who were forced to shift to another course, then that will be sometime within this year for him. I just hope the kind-hearted registrar's office personnel are consistent with those warnings.

Another concern of mine that's related is that during the interview of the potential guidance counselor, I saw notes on the whiteboard about the agenda of either the meeting on Tuesday with the academic advisers or for all the college faculty, which is a support system for the failing students. Now that one, I don't agree with. They don't become better with coddling.

Session 2203 is either immune to threats or still believes everything can be achieved from begging. Class dismissed.
