2008-08-02 7:06 PM A/P: Things Going My Way For Once Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Some tidbits that I will probably talk about more in length in the student accessible version next week: first of all, the Institute of the Environment tree planting in the same locale where I joined them the week before the Millennium super typhoon hit two years ago, again due to the continuous rains. This made free the school vehicle they had initially reserved for going there, so that we, who had only began to fill the application forms for our trip last Wednesday (another lesson against last minute preparations) didn't have to use our last resort, which was to rent an external vehicle for three thousand four hundred pesos to four thousand. The difference is whether the vehicle would be strict drop off and pick up or would wait for us to finish. If it's the second, it is an unwritten agreement that we would have to pay for the driver's meal/s. So in a way I guess it's a lucky break for us, the heavy rains, which also allowed us to go to a place where the clouds were along the road as fog blocking our way, and we wore jackets most of the time. Two of my students, who are part of the varsity team, also had to make the choice of either not attending my class or to go to their game which was simultaneous. We actually had the option of writing a letter to the director of the sports development office and ask that they be dropped off at our lab location after their game (which was only during the morning anyway), but they were afraid they might get lost in the unfamiliar short cut route between their game venue and the lab, so they decided against going to the game instead. Besides, the sports office coordinator said they really had to prioritize their academics. One of those students also had another make up class in school in the morning, but he decided not to attend that either. The logic was that in make up classes, there would be notes, but nothing beats hands on experience they would get in the lab. Session 2293 is glad that whole "use the lab" directive is now fulfilled. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
