A/P: Winning Is Everything To Those Who Have Smaller Half Empty Glasses

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Our team lost in the first basketball game of the faculty staff sports fest yesterday by default because we only had four players for a match decided last Thursday and only posted Friday afternoon, with a college teacher as a team captain who had no idea who to approach among the grade school and high school teachers.

Besides that, we actually could have played, if the other team had allowed it.

But the guy who considered himself their “star” player, a P.E. teacher who had a hand injury, was saying something about not being able to put up his “best game”.

So he was actually apprehensive that they could lose against four players who couldn’t foul out or switch out of the court anytime during the forty minutes of play.

So much for the friendly spirit of letting everyone play then, and here’s to intense competitiveness and winning by any means necessary, including easy victories.

We played anyway, but only since we already paid for the referees’ time, and no records.

That was when both teams realized that the four guys could have easily beaten the other team, and that maybe Mr. Injury had a right to be scared.

He could keep telling himself that he wasn’t playing to win, but everyone noticed that even within the first few minutes of the first quarter, he was already pulling fancy moves and passes all over the court, injured hand or not.

My teammates are just glad we don’t have to face that team again, except if it’s already in the finals battling for third place or even (we can hope) championship.

@@ In E-frame news, I had to tell one of his classmates that he already used up his allowable absences and that if he goes to class late one more time, that he will get a failing grade in this class. Not surprisingly, afterwards he approached me asking about his standing, but I said I didn’t have the records with me.

Now what does he do, he’s out of the room for most of the class again, having left his drafting materials at his table. Maybe he’s consulting with other students about how his figure looks like, or he’s moping somewhere about how he’s already failed in this class anyway, so why bother.

Session 2297 should start bothering from the beginning of the term, to pass. Class dismissed.
