2008-08-28 4:08 PM A/P: He Would Have Found Out Eventually, Better That It's From A Relatively Cool Head Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. By a stroke of destiny or whatever you want to call it, I met our former executive vice president-slash-dean today, and he had time for lunch. So I asked three of my trusted co-teachers if I should breach the subject with him, that had been brought up at the faculty meeting before. The director I'm closest to, ironically not the one I'm teaching in, and some might say may be suspect because it's diametrically opposite of what I've been teaching, said I should gauge it. After all, she was one of those who said we should wait until after talking to the brother president before telling the ex-EVP anything. The director of the school I'm in, who after our last faculty meeting had said the former dean might be too emotional to be helpful, replied to my text with "up to you". The former student activities director said I should tell him. As it happened he was the one who opened the conversation asking about the search for the new dean, and it all cascaded from there. It's funny how he was knowledgeable of some things like the cost and the procedure with the pergola, but not of others, such as the SSS foul up. At least he wasn't up in arms about it, as my director had feared. Also, he wasn't as apprehensive about me being coordinator of student affairs as I had initially thought. Maybe being "from a distance" does help give a clearer perspective on matters. And there's a directors' meeting on Tuesday at the brother president's office, and for some reason, I'm invited. My director just said, when he heard about the emergency meeting, "Panic button." Then again, I may be asked there only for matters of discipline, and about the university break being asked for by the students. Session 2333 doesn't know if there's a need to be forearmed and forewarned. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
