Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

First minor news item of the day: the lab technician is absent again, and has been since last week.

The rumor is that he contacted human resources and said that he had to take care of his newborn because his mother in law returned to the province or something.

I know we don’t have enough budget to have two technicians like the science lab, but there really should be a contingency plan where we have a replacement from some other office here in case something like this happens, which is becoming regular.

And if that replacement should end up being better than the person originally in charge, then all the better, just put the old guy in the replacement’s position.

@@ Second: the college faculty members are being asked right now to choose to from times on course card distribution day when they have to give the students’ grades.

What’s different from the other times is that now it’s only from 8am to 12pm.

What are we supposed to do afterwards? Bonding session, lunch out or something with all the faculty.

Like there wouldn’t be students hounding after us, arriving late even though the schedule is that early and will be frustrated if we disappear, just waiting around in groups.

At worst it would mean mobile phones ringing endlessly wherever we end up.

@@ Third: I just found out today that slacker co-teacher has asked for and was given advanced finals again, so that he doesn’t have to show up on the second half of finals week, and also on the course card distribution day.

In his calendar, that also means he won’t be here for adjustment, when the students look for him as their academic adviser to change their list of subjects for next term.

The head of the registrar’s office doesn’t know, but she will, and she knows the policy that was laid down by the former EVP slash dean before he left.

Session 2335 wants to go against certain policies of the old administration found to be eating away at vacation days and at the same time not want certain benefits to change. Class dismissed.
