Mood: Sorry For That Kid Read/Post Comments (0) |
2008-09-03 3:10 PM A/P: The Kid's Going To Grow Up to be a Scammer Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Well, that long-awaited meeting finally went through, with the directors, the action consultant, and the new guidance counselor. Of course part of the talk was about how the first thing that greeted this newest employee was a teenage suicide. Talk about getting your feet wet on the first day of the job. The action consultant, who comes from the campus where Justin graduated from as vice president of academics, was used to those cases. At the same time, one of the directors was talking about her 11-year-old boy who wants to drop out of first year high school. He makes reasonings like that his parents will love him no matter what, and that they shouldn't talk down about getting a job as a truck driver that way if he doesn't study anymore, because truck drivers have their own use in society. And even though emotional blackmail doesn't work with him anymore, he still knows how to dish it out. When his parents tell him that he can't have TV for a month as punishment for something, all he has to say to make them relent is something like "I'm falling into a dark pit and I can't get out." There's talk about giving the kid an immersion to the harsh realities of life without an education that would afford him luxuries in his prime. Where do these kids get these ideas that they can have an easy life without any hard work at the start to invest in a career? Somehow I suspect television and other media have a hand in it, but I don't have any concrete examples of that, or of them cultivating a sense of education being important for a good lot in life, and not just a life of crime or entertainment. Session 2343 is done with a day full of shocks. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
