Hungry for Power and Title But Short on Brains

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Ms. Research was talking more in detail recently about their current department chair, he who, soon after he got married and got his Ph.D., went up to one of the junior faculty and, in a double whammy, asked him when he was going to get married and when he was going to continue his studies.

She also relayed the following story: one room in the engineering building belonged to their department, but was in the process of being given back to the college of engineering.

The chair instructed one of the academic service faculty to go to Mr. MIR, who was in a class at that moment, to get the keys from him so they could move the things from there.

Of course Mr. MIR refused, and went to the dean about the matter.

The dean asked, "Which idiot agreed to that when there has been no meeting yet about what we get in exchange?" Mr. MIR didn't answer.

From the dean it got to the other senior faculty. What Ms. Researcher deduced was that the chair reversed the story and said that it was Mr. MIR who agreed to giving back the room, because during their next faculty meeting, the senior faculty were berating Mr. MIR about it, when he kept saying "I don't have the authority to do anything like that!"

Both Mr. MIR and Ms. R were at that meeting, but when the senior faculty did ask who agreed to the turnover, they didn't point to the chair, who did not own up to the mistake.

It would have been an easy thing for them to talk to the engineering faculty to find out who talked to them, instead of believing blindly what the chair, just because he belonged to the same church, told them even when he was covering his own behind.

Session 2407 is glad he got out of there before that megalomaniac took over. Class dismissed.
