2008-10-18 11:27 PM I Almost Lasted the Whole Two Weeks Patient Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. I came as close I ever have to blowing up due to Mr. Most Important Research's "you probably never learn" behavior today. We decided to walk from one of our stops to the next one today, instead of taking the bus that cost around twenty seven pesos regardless of where you get on or step off. So to use it to go to one of the stops, when we eventually had to ride it to return to the university, would cost twice as much, if not more. I was the one with the map. From our last position, we had to follow a road straight, even when it curved right. Mr. MIR and Ms. Researcher had asked someone else for directions, and he had heard that we were supposed to turn right at a certain corner. We had about seven or eight intersections to cross before arriving at our destination. Just like what he did to every passing female when we were supposed to meet up with my student, at every crossing he would ask "Do we turn right here?" until I finally had to get out the map to show him that to turn right at any street would take longer than just following the road we were on straight. Thankfully he did listen, either from the strain of the exasperation in my voice or because I was the only one who brought a map, even though we all took one from the tourist center before. I'm glad it didn't get to the point where I had to tell him I'd go my way and he could go his and we'd just meet at the destination. I wouldn't go as far as to say that I really don't like anyone who would make me look stupid, but there is a certain respect that you have to give to others to appreciate the fact that they can learn. And coming from a fellow teacher, his constant reminders about not leaving our keys in the guest house before leaving, always having the correct change for the buses and to watch out for vehicles when we're crossing the street just grates, like we can never learn since he has to keep saying it. I'm just betting it's the same way that he treats his students. Session 2409 knows it's not because he wants to appear more knowledgable than he actually is. Class dismissed.
