2008-12-04 5:07 PM Something Way Outside My Job Description Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Part of the reason for the failure to post yesterday was because I went back to the commission on higher education (but written in lower case) for the second mediation meeting. This was despite the fact that we had tried to get the meeting reset because the person we had all agreed upon should be there, the original teacher complainant, would not be showing up. I had tried to ask the secretary of the president’s office to make the call while I was in the multisectoral committee meeting with the president (which turns out to be about discussing the percentage of tuition fee increase for next year – another first for me!) but she just gave me an incredulous look. So I did the next best thing, which was to ask her to call the secretary of the office of student affairs, which she was willing to do. I wasn't into the discussions much, which mostly just said that the increase in salary will be as low as it was last year for all employees. We're supposed to go back to our units and get feedback on that now. Anyway, I was writing what the secretary was supposed to call while I was at that meeting, and for some reason, she arrived when we were half done. She did get to call the commission, only to be told that a written letter was needed. It was almost 5pm, so the commission personnel were apprehensive, but said they were willing to wait. So I drafted a letter, sent a document file to the college secretary, who edited it before printing it on a letterhead, then I went back to the president's office, only to be told that the mediator in the complaint had called, saying any request for postponement would not be received because it was unprofessional of "us". I almost told the secretary that it was unprofessional of her since she didn't want to assist in informing the commission in the first place. Session 2471 deals with all types of people in this job, and wishes only to face those easy to get along with. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
