2008-12-05 1:45 AM We Interrupt This Scholastic Program... Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. I have already mentioned before about the questionable scheduling of this annual recollection (it used to be an annual retreat, at least overnight, but I guess that's another victim of the financial bumpy road) which not for the first time is right before finals. What's also funny is that unlike everything else that we have wasted time discussing on in the faculty meeting, this was not (or at least, not in the most recent first of two consecutive Tuesdays that I attended). Sure there was a paper circulated asking the teachers' preference, but part of the problem with that, particularly again this close to the end of the term, is that the teachers are not marking or choosing the dates that they believe they will be busy with work, maybe such as make up lectures. So when the majority's sentiments are used, the 49% who lost out now have to scramble for adjusting their schedule, and make up again for one lost day, since for some reason, most teachers here prefer not to give up their vacation day than lost one teaching day. Why, also, wasn't there an option for just postponing the recollection to some other less crunch time date, maybe such as the fourth week of classes of the third term, when the pace isn't as hectic? What I'm already preparing for is that if no one later talks about how they believe they are more stressed out by this being yanked out of their momentum for finishing the grades for the term, then I will. I'm hoping that the others will follow, but even if they don't, I have a history of bad schedules to back up my complaint. And, since this will be the first time that I will be airing what I see to be inappropriately handled "laundry" then they will be forced to listen. It might have been a Kenny Rogers song that taught me to pick my battles, so that people will take it seriously when I do fight. Session 2473 isn't talking about "Coward of the County" which others use to justify that everytime is the right time to resist or argue. Class dismissed.
