2009-02-07 11:04 AM More Profit for Less Work? Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Am wondering of the sensibility of having two concerts, one matinee for younger children priced at a hundred pesos and lasting for an hour, and having an evening showing at the same price for older viewers, but for a half hour longer. It was decided not to advertise the difference anymore or to increase the price of the longer show, so it was assumed a lot of people would opt for the later showing. Sadly, I didn't stay for the second show to find out how well attended it was. The kids' show was full seat though, except for several times when bunches of students would get up to go out and buy something at the cafeteria. Maybe not having at least one concessionaire there, even at barely profitable prices, isn't such a good idea after all, though the cafeteria was open later than usual. @@ Another of our former graduates who is now working at the school was sad yesterday to find out that his overtimes are now being curtailed by his boss. He is supposedly employed as halftime. After his first six months of work, his "pay" was "raised" to allow him overtime hours, since a lot of the sports development work happens in the afternoons to evenings like sports fest games. I agree though that this is prone to abuse, showing up for the whole day almost every day. So if he makes fifteen thousand pesos a month, because of overtime that is at a one-point-five rate compared to regular pay, that means that he is getting thirty two thousand five hundred pesos a month, and I think human resources or the administrative services started to question that, after six months. Personally, I thought it was a blessing in disguise since I was hoping to hire him myself, and maybe this is the answer to my prayers, if he agrees, that is. But even if it doesn't push through, I'm still enjoying myself, in this new line of work. So the post, or at least the topic, eventually ended up being on something about me. Session 2549 has so many non-academic related stories to tell. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
