Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. There was an extended operations council meet earlier, just for morning snacks. It was mostly cakes and diet soda, plus coffee for those who wanted. It was the brother president's small Hearts in Pairs Day celebration for everyone. It was there that I found out the Integrated School Parents' Association's reason for not supporting the March 6 concert related in the student accessible version. They were just being asked for twenty thousand pesos to advance as a down payment for securing the talent fees of the bands to perform, which will be paid back when the sponsors' pledges cleared and they strictly asked for a breakdown of the usage. What's ironic for them is that several individual parents became minor sponsors of the event. As for the parents of college students' organization, their excuse was that the event, merged in January, was not part of the list of activities for the term that they asked from the Student Council and the recognized student organizations last term. I guess it went over their heads that as stated in the request letter it was only conceptualized last month. I was also informed of the grade school parents' reason for not donating to the fund of the learning community one covered courts, which cost twelve million pesos. The brother president asked them for thirty five thousand pesos donation. But according to their own research, seventy thousand pesos was needed, so they decided not to give any amount. So much for "every little bit helps" then, which I guess they don't appreciate. It also seems there was also an internal power struggle, because the president elected last July resigned, and someone else (resistant to the administration) took his place. Now the administration is planning to hold the parents' general assembly (which they do control) as early in the next school year as possible to shorten these officers' term. At least we, the college, don't seem to be the only ones getting into the community spirit. Session 2559 damns them all. Class dismissed.
