Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Just as I finished typing yesterday's entry and was getting a power nap, the head of the election commission woke me up (something even the secretary didn't want to do) for what he believed to be a matter of life and death. He received a text message from the head of one of the two parties, complaining of propaganda. He wanted a letter of apology demanded right away, without the benefit of an investigation. And what was the supposed propaganda? That a member of the second party had disseminated another text message sent to her by another head of the first party. The text was in response to something that she answered during the presentation of platforms as to the difference between the two parties, and she answered that they were Christ-centered. Now the first party, after having recorded and reviewed the event, still felt that it was being implied that they were devils. That's like if someone says they are not starving they're automatically gluttons. Now the head of the first party admits that the text message was not an official view of the party. So they don't think that the student who sent the text should accept the consequences of sending such? Of course we're waiting for a formal letter of complaint. I almost had to restrain the head of the election commission from jumping through hoops just because of a text. @@ And just in: two offices have called me up today just because I was the faculty signatory of two separate letters requesting for assistance. This is because their matters are urgent and despite this being the era of instantaneous communication, they are nowhere to be contacted when they are needed. So in fact I had to physically scour the campus for the people that were required. So much for having a secretary on call as well who has the contact information of these student leaders. Oh, and of course on top of all that, it's Election Day, although it seems generally peaceful. Session 2577 wants the day to end now. Class dismissed.
