Parents Being Stricter Than Teachers

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

I talked about the Parents of College Students' Organization last time (or maybe I didn't, but I don't have the time to check right now) and how their proposal to have an office right at the student center has been denied by three out of the four persons that the brother president asked to evaluate the request.

That's the student council president, the director for administrative services, and the coordinator for the office of student affairs (namely me). The last evaluation was from the associate dean, which was just sent to the brother president by email.

We reasoned that if they hang out at the student center, then the students wouldn't hang out there, fearing of being under parents' watchful eye just like at home, especially since the parents even asked for one-way tinted windows.

I told the brother president that I will be praying that his meeting with them goes well, in another campus in the district, maybe to show them that there the parents' organization office is not where the students hang out.

He told me the request had already been denied verbally, but they still went ahead with their written request, even stating it would only take three days to construct.

And maybe in retaliation (because I don't put it past the brother president to tell them who helped him with his decision) they still rejected the proposal of the student council for emergency funds for their band fest while waiting for the money from the sponsors to come in. It was already denied in the first request, because they wanted to adhere to the rule they made up that the students should ask for money no less than six weeks before the event occurs, despite the fact that there are special circumstances here of the high school student council coming up with the proposal of the merged event belatedly, just a little under their six week period.

The student council president even came up with a second appeal stating the reason for the last minute request, but again it was rejected, supposedly to teach them to plan earlier next time. That just makes the parents' organization more useless.

And to think, they decided to give ten thousand pesos to the contracted personnel last Christmas outside of the organized gift basket collection (only seven hundred pesos per basket) and even gave the unsold shirts from two years ago to the cause.

Session 2579 wonders why the brother president decided to forgo the question of validity of the president now that his son is no longer enrolled, and will just let him ride out the term, even signing the tuition fee increase agreement. Class dismissed.
