2009-03-05 11:43 AM Not Giving In to the Surrounding Panic Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Acquiring the employer mindset, there is a way of looking at potential and current workers that is not unlike that of judging, assessing or dealing with students. Sometimes I'd see people hired at a job wherein they are maltreated and I realize that now I have the means of giving them a better life, even if it means screwing over those who used to rely on them that I have to deal with afterwards. That's what's new, because before I've never had to convince someone to - in the best analogy - leave one school which is bad for another which I am selling is better. @@ Another thing I have had to deal with lately are people with their own agendas for the band fest. One such is the marketing office, who wants their promotional video playing during the idle times in the concert, when I know that he already talked to the president of the student council about playing the video just once. He even wanted a meeting with the person in charge of the program, just to give instructions on the two videos to play, one of which is in a DVD, the other which he wanted to send to me by our IP connection. Wow, that's a lot to ask. We even tried to play the disk that he gave, but it wasn't loading properly on my computer, so what more on the slower and less state-of-the-art campus machines? Thankfully he called up a while later to say that the video won't be played anymore. Too bad, I would have wanted to see that humiliation creep in of their work when shown. Next is someone who is asking for money for the transportation of the host and the two judges (because she can't get a third judge and is justifying it) and complaining about how the other organizers could be so blind as to not see that these are part of the essentials and should have been budget allocated. Of course, everyone knows there has to be a dipping pool for emergency expenses. Otherwise, there's always the idea of taking everything from the sales after the event. Session 2587 couldn't even write earlier with said girl over the shoulder lurking. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
