2009-03-11 10:32 AM The Red Zone Approaches Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. I have to talk about a certain student two posts in a row, although not strictly two days in a row. The director of the school of engineering approached me earlier telling me of something he did off campus. He had gone to a seminar of the company that went here during the engineering week. We don't know how he found out about the seminar, maybe he looked it up on the net after the talk. On a side note, this is also the place where one of his "crushes" is having her practicum. Anyway, they went there without any reservations, so they weren't allowed in, and they made a big fuss. I think the student taking her OJT there, or someone else connected with the company, contacted the director to tell him about the incident. But we need a formal report. If he is misrepresenting himself as having been sent there by the school, then he's in a world of trouble. If that's what he told his mother so that she would drive him there, that's even worse. She can try to gloss this over again just like she did with his having scratched the eyes of another student, but this should give her an idea already about how bad her son is acting. @@ What I don't like about the project presented yesterday was that they had to take apart another project (the best in my opinion, presented last July) to build it. This is because it was allowed by the director himself, and because there was some confusion about them being six in a group at the start, then changed to three, after everybody had more or less contributed equally to the expenses of the project. I'm just sad that we can't demonstrate the first robot anymore, when it had a lot of potential. I don't like that these students just want to finish as quickly as possible without regard to the legacy they are leaving behind, and that even their children could be proud of. Of course, I'm also considering the marketing potential of all of that. Session 2593 would again want everybody to take pride in their work. Class dismissed.
