They Don't Know When They're A Bother

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

A certain student, after hanging around the faculty room for several minutes, approached me again while I was at the computer at the back, stating again very obviously that he had a question. It was about what is "the most efficient light bulb".

I just shut him down again. He still doesn't get that he will never drag me down into a discussion with him where we will both be excited about a project of his.

@@ Annoyingly, one of my co-teachers asked me again to go to the yearbook photo shoot.

This is because the first one he dragged me to, I wasn't in the mood, and of course I didn't give a serious pose.

Luckily, this time it was around lunch time that he asked, so I was able to say that I would like to eat first so that I would be in a better mood when the picture is taken.

But it's just surprisingly irritating that he would insensitively bring up such a concern twice.

@@ Too late the effort, three of the slacker terminal students who are in my class are now attending early, or what is relatively early for them, but still late for the class.

And this time they just don't enter then leave if they don't get the discussion.

Now they hang around, even though they are still not paying attention because they are talking.

They think they are being discreet but their voices are so low (not whispering) that in fact it even reverberates more across the room, wherever I stand.

But since it's the eleventh week and I have recorded more than six absences from each of them, it's not going to be enough to make up for the points they missed.

@@ Another freshman slacker student also didn't attend the astronomy lab practical exam.

He even had his classmates say that he was at the airport, saying goodbye to a sister or something who will be away for a very long time. And when asked for an excuse letter, it was on half a legal pad written, not even typed.

Session 2617 will make sure these guys learn their lessons to exert more effort next time. Class dismissed.
