Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. So the announced teambuilding for last Wednesday for the faculty turned out to be a recollection. And it was facilitated by no other than our college student retreat master, who had also given the retreat to the faculty two or three years ago in Calaruega. Sadly, it was mostly the same things all over again, songs and Bible readings. And our school director, who is a strong advocate of the Bible, spoke up about the Bible being the manual or our lives and got into a short argument with the retreat master about the Bible not being a complete record of Jesus' life because it only contains the parts that were inspired to be written. I wasn't convinced when the retreat master ended it by saying he respected our director's position just to be able to move on, but I bet everyone was thankful. My take on the matter: just saying the Bible is the manual of how to live doesn't necessarily mean that people will be able to use it without guidance as the retreat master was doing. After all, if that was true, then teachers wouldn't be needed with all the textbooks out that for people to refer to. The second session was a small group sharing session where we were supposed to tell them about our idols in terms of Word of God, works and fellowship. Sadly I wasn't able to join the afternoon session, because that was when the Student Affairs secretary, already panicking about the leadership camp, called another meeting with the students about ironing out the details. I also had a meeting then with the IT people about their planned student portal, but I'll talk about their features in the student accessible version sometime soon. @@ In other news, I'm finally finished with the academic subjects of my master's course. That means only the research to go, which I hope to be able to complete quickly. Also, I wasn't able to tell it in the other journal, but because of the unpredictable weather, the graduation later would be held at a nearby hotel. Session 2647 has a few more days of non rest to go. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
