Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. I really don't like it that slacker co-teacher has already influenced the behavior of our youngest teacher. Last week the college secretary (or administrative assistant) already sent text messages telling all the faculty members about the schedule of workshops for the week before class starts, from Monday to Friday, not including the freshman orientation. Today he approached me and asked if the attendance in those workshops is required, because he has made other plans, including one he plans to drag me along on for Friday. Thank goodness the person we're supposed to visit out of town on that day is also busy, so it will have to be reset for one of the three-day weekends of June. I hope the brother president really does make good his promise of taking seriously the new insubordination clause in the new faculty manual to the hilt, even to those who consider themselves immortal, a.k.a. tenured or permanent. That means he can start counting absences of the faculty members who don't attend these workshops that are supposed to make them better teachers. And I'm glad that in terms of being a presenter in one of the sessions myself, that I have on my side the newest director, of the school of arts and sciences. But besides that, which is all for the academics side of actuating ideal graduate attributes, there is also the student affairs angle of it that has to be explored. @@ I'm rusty at writing, after almost two weeks out of practice. Not that there isn't much to write about, just that it's a bit overwhelming that I don't know where to begin. There are some aspects in the boss-employee relationships, from both sides, ironically, and in two different locations, not just the longer-stayed one or the new one. I'd also like to talk about the book customs, but that could probably be in the student accessible version. And of course, there are more rants from different fronts: work, entertainment, recent purchases (already twittered) and social circles (even virtual ones). Session 2663 likes getting back into the groove of posting regularly. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
