Mood: More Work, Look Out! Read/Post Comments (0) |

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. So during the week of no posting I have had to endure texts from subordinates such as the following: "Sir I talked to Brother Richie about his possible involvement in the Freshman orientation. "Could you please email him to tell him to talk about the life of the founder and the current state of the schools and campuses in the country this close to the centennial?" This has me scratching my head all the way to Sunday. You already contacted the person; he already said yes; why the hell am I supposed to send him a letter again? There's also about being informed of a meeting on the day itself, after I have said that I won't be going to school for medical reasons, after several days of silence (re: no notice of meeting). Another such message said that the president of the student council had already contacted the brother president about his his welcome message to the freshman in their new student guide. So why is the welcome message to be emailed to ME? Why add another link to the chain? This is more than just coordination that is being asked of me, but to be part of the red tape. @@ Other than that, things are going swimmingly. I have free time to myself outside of the campus and the other place of work to be able to watch three movies in three days. That has to be some kind of record last made in the first half of 2003 or earlier. I'm finding out again the value of escapism in the form of books, just willing oneself to concentrate on the words on a page and look away if necessary and go back, without having to press pause and rewind or scroll up afterwards, just mark the current page. My only worry right now is that the next book after this one might not be as engaging. It also seems that I have to invest in a small penlight, maybe those with the adjustable neck that is battery powered, as there is no big bright source of light in the place where I spend most of my time now, other than the school or home. So few vacation days left ahead of me for this summer break. Session 2661 just has to focus on one problem at a time from one source. Class dismissed.
