The Slacker-Infected Appear

Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

Something is wrong with the new post page at csi2 dot journal no-space space dot com, so posting there from tiny no-space url dot com slash new no-space csi will have to wait until it's fixed.

@@ The third graduate of ours who could teach for this term (technically the fourth if you count last year's applicant) had his teaching demo earlier. I was a bit shocked when the director, who was also there, said that he has the teaching skills already.

All I was reminded of was slacker co-teacher with his anecdotal approach to the topics.

I did like his use of flash software for his slide presentation instead of power pointing it though.

But that's something that I knew he was capable of since I was their teacher in introduction to electricity and magnetism lab. Not that it takes anything away from that skill.

So in a way I'm relieved that out of the three applicants, he was the one who was not picked, because he was also the one with the least number of units to teach, and has the farthest to travel to get here.

Which of course, adds up (or subtracts down) to more expenses for him to come here than he can be paid.

@@ It turns out that the guidance office, the mission office and the student affairs office will have a "retreat" for next week.

This evolved from the one-day recollection that was proposed during our joint meeting last Friday morning.

I had to find out from the brother president last Saturday that he had already been approached by the two other office heads with the proposal, and he agreed. I had to admit that I wasn’t there for the second part of their meeting because I had a class at that time.

I just hope I haven't disappointed them with the stories that I left them with, although technically it was part of the agenda to update each other like that with the 'lights from last school year.

@@ Last week I also submitted confidential evaluations of the two staff members under me: the secretary and the discipline officer. They both passed, but there was a world of difference between their ratings. Now all I have to do is wait for the possible flak there because there was a CONFORME for the employee at the bottom of the last page.

I may be wrong, but that seems to be contrary to the "confidential" sticker at the top of the first page.

At least I have something concrete to tell them if they do ask for an explanation, and this also means no more defense as to a salary adjustment for this school year.

Session 2673 has to be true to something. Class dismissed.
