2009-08-12 11:24 AM The President Approves The Money, Can Take The Money Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. There will be a send-off lunch on Friday for the former principal. It will be off-campus, and each of the participants has been asked to contribute to the expenses to the tune to 250 pesos. That was yesterday. Now the staff in charge has been going around the offices again, asking for another 50 pesos, because it turns out it will be a "classy" restaurant we're going to. It's a very small assurance that the brother president will be paying for any excess to the three hundred peso per head celebration. I wonder if part of that will be for a parting gift. @@ And speaking of expenses, I was surprised today (and so was the secretary) to receive a charge from the president's office for the food that the brothers had during the foundation week celebration. We're talking about nine brothers here, including the two already in campus. And they're charging the office of student affairs one thousand eight hundred pesos for it! I asked the secretary to inquire with the integrated school student affairs, the college, the principal's office, the registrars, the human resources office, the office of sports development and the mission office how much they were charged since it's supposed to be shared expense. None of the other offices have replied, except the college, who said that they were charged two thousand five hundred pesos. That makes me feel somewhat better, although: why isn't the charge equal? @@ There are two of my students in computer architecture here in the student center right now studying slide presentations for their exam in another class later today. They first asked me what "vis-à-vis" means. I answered. Then it was "collate", next "compensate". On the fourth question, I just said that's what online dictionaries and references are for. @@ I'm on social networking sites with the students, and here I was thinking that there would be several faux pas like I've seen on other sites about forgetting that a person in authority is in the loop of their innermost posts, but so far, that hasn't happened. I'm not content with just one though; I mean there's not one that hands down wins in terms of features over the others. I'm ambivalent about the "who's viewed me" feature, but I also want each post to have its own link for easy reference. And, yes, replies have to be in the same page or indented and shouldn't have to be scrolled back to find out the original post being commented on. So there twitter. Session 2761 won't say those to the students. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
