Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. I'm playing a game right now whose nuances I'd like to write somewhere, but sadly I can't do that in the student accessible version because that would be tantamount to telling them it's okay to play in lieu of studying. Anyway, if there's anyone out there who is curious as to what game I'm referring to, there are several other ways to contact me. To be able to act in this world one needs stamina. It takes stamina to do a lot of things, including cook. After one cooks meat, it is assumed automatically that one will eat what was cooked. It could not be stored. What's funny about this is that sometimes after cooking I would see that my overall stamina still went down. In other words, it still takes more energy to cook that can be compensated by the intake, like what they said all those years ago about chewing on a stalk of celery consuming more calories than it replenishes. I like the complicated calculations being used though that using this certain ability frequently reduces the stamina associated with it. That sounds right, like going to the gym or practicing martial arts makes you better at it. There are other traits available for leveling up in this game, namely attack and defense. Also increasing attack and defense are the armor and the weapon that you buy. But this is where it isn't balanced. It's usual in games like these that I like to accumulate a lot of cash. Especially in this one where for every game day, from 1 to 5 percent of interest can be accrued by the money I leave in the bank. There is an upper limit though, that I've encountered for the first time in any game, that the player cannot have more than a hundred thousand credits on hand or it won't earn interest anymore. That's another balance that some games like this already miss, which is that a player should at all instances of the game be able to afford what is the best equipment he can use at that stage. In this game, all the high powered equipment is available to players even starting out, except of course they can't buy them yet. But I have, and for me, having bought mid level equipment even having a low level character, even "big trouble" fights came easy. That is - for a while. There comes a point, let's say when I'm about 60% up the leveling ladder, when even "easy fights" make me lose. This is because I haven't bought new equipment in a while. There is also this point called evolution or ascension, where you have a new title or designation, and you've defeated what is supposed to be the villain (complete with a sequel cliffhanger) but somehow, all the money I've accumulated is gone, but not the cigarettes (also used as currency in the game). But of course I'm still playing it. It's the "I want to see how it all turns out/what happens next" syndrome. Session 2765 is not academic this last day of the week. Class dismissed.
