2009-10-26 1:50 PM First Full Day of Regular Games Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. The college faculty members are at a recollection, which I could not join. I mean I requested to join at my own expense, but before I could be told that it was not approved, I decided not to go. And that is not sour grapes talking. We were planning to stay overnight, but it turned out that there is a seminar scheduled for tomorrow for the faculty, so it would not be feasible to stay overnight. Instead I am here in school watching that not all the booths planned out for the participants of the sports camp were necessary. I know the organizers meant well: idle hands and all that. But it is either that the players whose games are not scheduled at this time are watching their classmates play and cheering, or they are using the time to just rest in their rooms, which I noticed, by the way, have new locks installed. Apparently the same goes for the computer and dance workshops. These, after all, are the budding athletes. Going by the social strata created by such shows as Glee and Popular, they have completely separate interests from the geeks and the artistic types, well, probably except for console games. I feel sorry for the public school scholars though, who thought that they will have an exclusive booth for cold drinks. Now they have to limit buying the ice for their coolers so as not to deplete their funds. It turns out that the other sellers are also selling drinks. Maybe it was just not specified in their contract. Also, the dance troupe was complaining about being brought to the side of the quadrangle that was away from the gazebos and the volleyball court, so a lot of people did not even know they existed. Besides, they only had two carnival type games to hawk that did not involve shooting, but still technically gambling. Is this different from what the high school student council is doing where they are at a dirt field asking the students to look for stars enclosed in plastic in the soil in exchange for points? But at least when I went there they had participants. Maybe it is also tied in to the house competitions. The event to wait for though will not be until tomorrow, the performance of three college bands during the closing ceremonies. In that at least the college students will by highlighted, following only one high school band playing. We also should have included a performance of the dance troupe in the opening ceremonies, so that the kids would know what kind of dances would be taught to them. Or was the brother dancing already full for them? We have a lot to learn from after this event, it turns out and at least the weather seems to be cooperating, just like with my beach trip, not so sunny the last two times. There was idle talk at least with the sports development office coordinator about the colleges holding something like this next time. Session 2847 may not feel it again when things go back to so-called normal on Wednesday. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
