Mood: Ranging the Far Off Days of Rest Read/Post Comments (0) |
2009-11-06 1:00 AM The Week Out of Focus Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. A lot of things are happening right now in the campus under the seemingly serene surface of non-activity. First, there was this student (maybe a freshman or a sophomore; am not sure) who lay on the floor of the student center the other day, due to inebriation. She was gone by the time the discipline officer had brought me back there, but at least the secretary of the office of student affairs was able to talk to her, and get her to admit, for the record that she did drink before going to school. And what was the reason? Boyfriend trouble, she says. That is something not at all surprising. @@ The secretary of the office of student affairs approached me this morning giving me samples of a calling card. Apparently, each office is now just given the template to revise and print for themselves. This would be the first time that I would be using the office printer with the colored ink (I have used the black in for documents countless times) for something even remotely personal, in my almost twenty years in this position. @@ Because of the announcement of the person sitting in the office of the Philippine president to take back what she said about November 27 and 28 being holidays. Since we have at least one event happening on the last day of that week, we have to contact the company (and their 4 speakers) if it is okay to move it back again. I apologized for the second change, but I gave the reason why we wanted it to be moved back, which is to give the Grade 10 and 11 students a chance to attend since their classes end earlier on a Friday than on a Thursday. And they were ok with it. I guess they are not that busy either on that supposed long weekend. @@ I will not be attending the senior retreat again, for the second time this year. Last time it was in conflict with that beach trip that we had planned. At the same time, I was not interested in bonding with the participants, including a former student council presidential candidate and his girlfriend, who, not surprisingly, also ran for a position in the same party. Talk about keeping it among friends. Also there was a two-time student council officer there who I do not believe warranted her position. She was just the lesser of two evils during the first year she ran, and on the second year, she lost, but then was appointed (which is why there is no more appointment anymore after that year). At least now the student council seems to be working on revising the constitution for ratification. Someone is finally getting proactive about setting things down on paper instead of relying on nebulous decisions. @@ I backed out of getting a new phone, even if it is only for three digits, because I do not like the color. I took it as a sign that the money would be better suited for something else to pay for, at least for now. Session 2857 is just coasting until the weekend starts. Class dismissed.
