2009-11-10 2:50 PM Want Me To Act Like A Pre-School Mother Hen Student "edition" found at {thoughts dot com slash typed no space out no space loud slash blog}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. And my mailbox is now cluttered with a lot of mail from the Dean, a lot of them from yesterday. First of all, there is a seminar I am supposed to attend about the law on random drug testing of students. This was supposed to be on Thursday this week, but it was moved to Friday of next week for some strange reason. @@ There is also the case at the Commission on Higher Education from last year she wants me to follow up. Finally the officer for the welfare of the students, who wants to be backed up and armed with all these documents before he moves into action, had convinced them that it should not be him to follow up on the case despite it being in his job description for this school year because it happened during my watch last school year. He also somehow managed to worm in the fact of my quote intimate first hand knowledge of the case unquote as a selling point. And as luck would have it, everyone says I cannot pass this off to the secretary, but should call myself. Not surprising is the fact that I have been shuttled off from one employee to another, and add to that there was a personnel change and the original contact person I actually had has been moved to another office. This means that of the three people I talked to about the case, all of them had to be given an overview of the case before I could proceed. And now it is moving at the pace of a snail. First I was told that it had to be consulted with their officer in charge. Afterwards, maybe because the OIC did not know what to do with it or how it had gone, the original mediator had to be consulted. Two days hence, the mediator was consulted, but now she had to review the files of the case, which will take God knows how long. Just so I would not have to keep calling everyday (despite giving them my contact number the first day for them to call me, which they never did, sounding like a girl ditched after a one-sided date) we have come up with a letter to be faxed to them to ask for a written (or faxed) reply. What makes it worse is that when I call, it is a cordless phone they answer with, which has shrill static when passed around. Talk about having a lot of hassles for something a so-called director is not supposed to do personally. And I have to update the dean about every time I call, which is basically just to say there is no update. What is bad about this is that writing them a letter only assures that we will receive a reply that says there is no update for now, but that we will still have to bug them by phone if we do not get word after a day or two. Session 2861 also has a beef with a student leader knowing about a pending case of violation of school rules but not excusing himself from the job. Class dismissed.
