Mood: Getting Strong Again Read/Post Comments (0) |

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. I have roughly 45 minutes to write this if I want to be on board the 415pm shuttle getting out of here. Well, all that freak anticipation that had led to those weird posts the past few days is finally over. It was not as bad as I expected, basically because there was no point by point agenda that they listed down. In fact, all the agenda they came up with, so unprofessionally but basically that could be blamed back to me, was: what is the situation; what can we do about it; how can it be resolved? In a way that made me relieved that their complaints really were not organized, which also had its good points and bad points. And as I had expected, a lot of their complaints were really not directed at me, but to the administration giving them additional work. In fact, one of the officers even went so far as to ask whether they could outright decline any job that the administration gives them. I told them that it was like my situation: the administration gives me a job out of the blue, with a rushed deadline. I cannot pass it up because they are the ones who pay me, and I want them to continue paying me. In the same way, if they appear obedient to some of the easier (if somewhat last minute) requests of the administration, then they would look at them favorably in some of their future proposals. At least the dress code and the no smoking policies did not come up, which may mean that they know with those my hands are as much tied as theirs are being a directive from above and all. Of course I have an answer to what they said about there being a need to balance their academics and the activities, but I did not say it anymore, which was if you could not stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. At least there was no accusation of power-tripping, which I know not to be true, although I had to emphasize that their complaints of rigidity of rules is too general which was why I asked for specific examples. If there had been at least a one whole page list of their complaints, it would really have been justified. So we both admit that it was a lack of communication on both our parts, even though I wish I did not have to accept some of their excuses like the fact that the low walls of my cubicle are too foreboding unlike that of the secretary. I did have to remind them that like some of the people whose names I was surprised to see on the letter, who I admitted I am closer to than some of the officers, I am an approachable person. Too bad the former president and vice president were not there, although I was able to see that there were those whose signatures were just collected even though they did not share the whole sentiments of the group. Session 2965 understands that there is still getting along with peers superseding the common so-called enemy. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
