Got a call from the hiring manager at Company B today. He just managed to create a temporary three month position in his department. Was I interested? Heck yeah, I was interested. I start a week from Monday. I'm very excited about this. A "permanent" job would have been nice, but this three month contract should a) be really fun, b) let me learn some valuable skills that should make me a much more desirable candidate for other positions and c) put some nice money in my pocket. And hey, a lot can happen in three months. People quit, or go on leave and don't come back; departments sometimes expand. I just might be able to turn this into a long-term thing. Hey, my dad spent most of the nineties working as a "temporary" contractor, and there were companies he spent *years* at. The older I get, the more I realize that in many ways, I'm turning into my dad. Mostly the good ways, I think. It's a little freaky, but on the whole, I can think of worse people to be. Wheee! Speaking of my dad, I gotta go call my parents and gloat about landing this job. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
