2004-02-17 3:21 PM Voting Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Happy Read/Post Comments (0) Just a note: if you live in California, and you haven't registered to vote (or re-registered since you last moved), today is the last day your voter registration form can be postmarked for your registration to be valid for the March 2 primary. So, if you need to be registered, get down to your local post office, get a form and drop it in the mail.
I did mine this morning. Now, I just need to decide who to vote for in the primary...but that's the subject for an entry when I have more time. (It's probably the lowest-stakes voting decision I'll have made in a long time: the Democratic nomination is pretty much sewn up, so it's more like deciding who I want for Vice-President. Woohoo. Maybe there'll be an exciting bond measure on the ballot.) Meanwhile, I'm pleased to see that San Francisco's issuing of licenses for same sex marriage has gotten a reprieve on its first court challenge: the judge postponed the hearing until Friday. There's another court hearing today (probably going on right now). I'm not very optimistic, but, then again, I thought that the first court hearing would produce an injunction faster than you can say, "equal protection." One of the local radio stations that I listen to was running some kind of contest, where they'd pay the marriage license fee for the winning same sex couple. I hope San Francisco keeps issuing licenses long enough for the winners to claim their prize. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
