The Las Vegas weekend was fun. Drove down Friday Afternoon and got to see Soul Thomas Evans read before a respectable crowd at Jitters. Some regulars were out at a special reading by Charles Webb and Tony Barnstone over at the public library but we still had a good showing. Saturday night we ended up having Cady Earnest, Christopher Fox Graham, Josh Fleming, John Kofonow, Todd Davis, and Dan Seaman come in from Arizona, and we also brought Soul Evans up on stage along with Bakeem Lloyd, Madeline Beckwith, Clay, and Danna of course who made the evening possible. Dayvid Figler, Greg Crosby, Deborah Kohen, Ken Wannamaker and Chip Mosher graced us with their presence but opted not to read as the evening wore on to the wee hours. Todd and Dan decided to go shoot the bull with Figler and Chris, Josh and John went honkytonkin' in the downtown area. The rest of us ducked out early as midnight was late enough.
Sunday, while on the way back home, I had a blow out near Williams AZ. State Trooper helped me put the spare on, and much gratitude to the State Police here. I didn't have a flashlight and I wasn't looking forward to changing a tire in the dark with huge trucks zooming by just 5 feet away.

Now it's back to grading papers. I just got a rejection from one MFA program. Four more to go. If I get rejected by all five, I will probably go teach overseas or something or teach high school.

As to the subject of this post, I thought I'd say that I am not a fan of most sports. Football, basketball and tennis are the exceptions, but even then, I am not much of a fan. I'd much rather see battle of the bands contests on MTV, or Comedy Contests than watch figure skating. Now if the figure skating were done Vega$ style, that would be different.

Enough!
