Just got back from the Jitters reading. We had John Standiford feature... and tonight he was just on fire. He had a few hilarious poems and his serious stuff went over well too. I was trying not to buy his book... but I couldn't help it. Love ya John. We also had the Neurotica/Erotica Slam. I did well... out of 9 slammers I came in 3rd overall... I scored 2nd in just "slam" I did Froggy Fights Back and I was third to read... so the fact that I came in 2nd was pretty heartening. Karen Lumos won both the Neurotic and the Regular score competition. Evil Dan took 3rd in slam and Danna took 2nd in Neurotic and overall. Danna Botwick... the long time host of many readings in Vegas and web mistress of poetsallover on yahoo. I got a 27.1 for slam but a 24.5 for neurotic. Perhaps if I had done Mack the Nugget... or Exam I could have scored higher... had there been a 2nd round. Well... I am going to enjoy these next few days... I don't have to teach until Wednesday. Hurrah! I am also the first Iowa Cafe feature under new hosts Megan Milligan and Mark Snyder. This Thursday I will do about 20-30 minutes of poetry and song. I will be doing Sea of Vomit for the first time in nearly 2 years. bring your ear plugs and pepto bismol. |
