Been watching the TV show "Monk" lately. Good stuff.

The most interesting part about watching a TV show based on a caracter with severe OCD is realizing the amount of compulsive behaviors I exhibit, and also realizing, just like the main character, how stressful situations magnify that behavior.

I guess there's a sort of comfort in a certian rigid familiarity while things are spinning all around you.

The patterns allow you to think less about at least a few things while your brain is over-preoccupied.

Park your car in the same spot, making certain phonecalls at the same time every day, walk down to check the mail on a schedule. Everything in its place and at its time, just to get you through the day.

It's not like control over your life, but sometimes it's the best you can manage for the moment, because let's face it, you really only have so much control over your life.
