Today was one of those gloomy, overcast days that make you dread the coming winter. I spent most of the day going through the photos we took at the WW2 Reenactment and reading the May '03 issue of Asimov's Science Fiction. There's some good stuff in this issue - my favourites were "Dry Bones" by William Sanders, "The Madwoman of Shuttlefield" by Allen M. Steele, and "The Apocalypse According to Olaf" by Barth Anderson. It's good to see Mr. Steele back with another Coyote tale. I quite enjoy those stories - the best way to describe them would be to say they're a cross between SF and frontier-type Westerns (minus the cowboys). I've still got to pick up the novel containing the first batch of Coyote stories (definitely on the to-read list though) - there are several that I've missed. The poetry in this issue also gave me a few chuckles :)

I also spent some time fixing a USB Microsoft optical mouse that'd stopped working years ago. I initially thought it was the worn connector, but it seems the mouse flickered when I bent the cord slightly - it must have been shorting-out internally or something. I ended up removing and re-attaching part of the cord and it seems to work great now :)

What I'm Reading:
Talebones #26, Summer 2003
Hacking Matter by Wil McCarthy
