For a Tuesday, I recommend a movie which happens to be on YouTube for free! I would normally have gone over to that famous site we all know and love to buy this movie, but held back and went ahead and checked it out on YouTube instead after reading a review of it here on dovegreyreader scribbles.

And for the last 2 hours (90 minutes roughly for the movie and 30 minutes for various household interruptions here), I have been entranced and enthralled by this film. I could have sworn I'd seen it before, but I must not have been paying attention before - today I did pay attention and loved it all.

So here, for your viewing pleasure, if or when you can manage to steal 90 minutes out your busy schedules, is

A Month In The Country

It stars Colin Firth, Kenneth Branagh, Natasha Richardson, and Patrick Malahide - all A#1 actors in my estimation.

According to Wikipedia, it is...

"Set in rural Yorkshire during the 1920s, the film follows a destitute World War I veteran employed to carry out restoration work on a Medieval mural discovered in a rural church, while coming to terms with the after-effects of the war.

Shot during the summer of 1986 and featuring an original score by Howard Blake, the film has been neglected since its 1987 cinema release and it was only in 2004 that an original 35 mm film print was discovered due to the intervention of a fan."

I have to admit that this is the first movie I've actually watched from beginning to end on YouTube. It was lovely. It moves slowly and quietly, but the music score is beautiful and the acting is, as I expected, outstanding. There is no violence in it and no sex (not any visual sex that is) and it has been well worth my morning having watched it here.

Now it's your turn. Of course, the fact that it supposedly takes place in Yorkshire, England, in a rural village called Oxgodby, made it all the more delicious to me.

Yesterday, I was straining to do something that involved stretching my back more than I should have done and something big happened back there, in my lower lumbar spine, and I just about saw stars! I pulled something or other and now I have a very, very bad-feeling spine and back area. If I thought I was all crippled up before, well, now I truly am!

Oh well. Life goes on.
