It was the damnest thing, last night I tried renting the Last Samurai but instead I received the new public relations flick from Al-Queda. It was all about a noble warrior class fighting valiantly against the oppressive forces of modernity. Yes, these warriors were totally pissed off that there was going to be a, um, railroad in their country, well not like, through their houses but you know, down the road a bit, which can be quite loud when the train goes by and all, and their real estate agent totally didn’t warn them about this or anything.
So they fight! Finally someone stands up to all that is evil in the world like wealth, and um, transportation and apparently equal rights and definitely things like literacy and education. As a person that enjoys all of these things, however, I found it difficult to root for them to win. Also, Americans are very bad, and easily outraged when they lose the right to no-bid contracts. They like to sell guns and kill innocent Indian (I think they meant native-American and not Asian-Indian but this wasn’t totally clear) women and children. In the end you should salute the type of nationalism and xenophobia that ultimately led to the attack on Pearl Harbor. And Honor is most god-damned important thing there is the world. If you are humiliated, the only thing you can do, as a man, is put away your dreams for creating a better world for yourself and children and die a martyr with a pathetic hope for revenge.
