“Next time you think you’re perfect, try walking on water”

To me this seems to miss the point. One of the most intriguing aspects of Christianity is the idea that God became a man. Sure, the whole Father-son-holyspirit-as-one thing doesn’t really work logically and isn’t really believed by most Christians anyway, but put that aside and think about the idea that God would experiment in the human condition.

I mean, what is it to be human but to make choices, to have failings, to be shortsighted? If Jesus was perfect how was that being a man at all? It wouldn’t be God made flesh so much as God made visible or acting in a play. If you accept that Christ was fully God and fully human than you must accept that he farted and lusted after women (men?) made bad decisions, cheated or lied, felt pain and inflicted pain, was bored, at times arrogant, ect as well as accepting that he did miracles. How else would he empathize with us if he did not sin?

How could he realize failure if he did not fail?

If you think Jesus (or your God-made-man of choice) was perfect, then you must have a pretty one-dimensional view of things. God’s other son was much more interesting then this…
