Seeing Old Friends
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

Mood:
So-So

Yesterday I did some homework during the day and got ready to head down to Fullerton with Rob. We were having dinner with a bunch of people from the role playing game I used to be in. It wasn't something I was terribly excited to do (mostly because I should have been spending that time getting my work done), but I'm glad I did.

The drive down there was /horrible/. From Studio City to Fullerton is about 40 miles. It ended up taking us over two and a half hours to get there. The dinner started at 7:30pm so Rob and I thought that leaving a little before 6pm would be a good idea. We ended up getting there a little after 8:30pm. By that time I wasn't in a happy state. I was tired, stressed, had a horrible headache, and was glaring daggers at Rob for not having a car.

Things got better once we got inside the restaurant. It was nice seeing people I haven't seen for about two years. Some were old friends, some were old acquaintances, and some were people I had never before met. I was kind of uncomfortable because I /hate/ being in large groups, but it was nice to see people like Flor, Tim, Stacy, Jerry, and Dennis once again. And I got to meet Raime! Now, I don't usually like babies and I make a habit of trying to stay far away from them, but I actually dug Raime. She was way cute, which surprised me cause I generally think most babies are ass ugly. Raime was a doll and now I'm pestering Rob cause I want a daughter. The scary thing is that he does too.

So, all in all the night worked out. Some negative things came from it, and some very positive things came from it. Details will be filled in later to some of you - you know who you are.

On the bright side, the drive back home only took about a half hour. Traffic was light and I sped all the way. I now have another bane of my existance though - driving a long way in heavy traffic. Makes me nuts.

Sad but true.....

sarariiman

You Are a Sarariiman!

Or "salaryman." Whatever. Treadmill off, treadmill on.
Most of the sleep you get is on Tokyo's extensive subway system, since you are putting in 14 hour days.
You're a workaholic who works hard for no overtime. And vacations? Forget about it.
You spend most of your trip hunting around for gifts to bring back all of your coworkers.

What's *Your* Japanese Subculture?
