Yesterday my Mom, Rob, and I drove from Galena to Chicago. We left early in the morning and it took us around three hours to get there. We first headed to the suburbs. We showed him Hinsdale and Western Springs (two towns I lived in as a child) and then headed into the city. As we were driving towards the city from the suburbs Rob mentioned that Chicago seemed a lot like his native New York. We headed to Gino's Pizzeria for lunch and met up with my Dad. We ordered a sausage and mushroom deep dish pizza (real deep dish - not that fake "Chicago style" crap you see in LA). Wow. I had forgotten how good those things are. True deep dish pizzas are incredible. If you order a deep dish and there's cheese on top, then it's not a real one. A real deep dish pizza has sauce on top and is *at least* an inch thick. Mmmmmmm.

After lunch we headed to my Dad's office. His firm is really cool and his office is amazing. We talked some law stuff and then headed out. He's going to try to see if he can help me find a job out in Chicago. And if worse comes to worse I can always work at his firm. However, I want that to be a last resort because I'm not really interested in insurance law or defending doctors and hospitals in medical malpractice suits.

After my Dad's office we drove around the city a bit to show Rob the sights. We didn't have much time to spend there so we did a driving tour. We showed him Michigan Avenue, where I lived in high school, Lake Shore Drive, Lake Michigan, the Clark and Belmont area, the Lincoln Park area, and some of the northern suburbs like Evanston and Wilmette. And then we headed back to Galena. We spent a lot of time in the car yesterday and when we got back we were all exhausted.

Last night we watched some TV with my Mom and my Nana and then decided to take a bath together in my Mom's huge stationary tub. Note to self: When/if I can ever get a nice house, I need a large tub like that!

Today we slept in and later in the day Rob got to drive around the town a little bit. My Mom gave him a driving lesson and he did fairly well. He drove a bit slow, but that's to be expected for a beginner. Tonight all of us went out for dinner and now we're just chilling out around my Mom's house. Once I'm done with this posting I'm going to work on fixing my Mom's iMac. It's possessed and has been having some weird problems. So, I'm going to run a Norton Utilities on it, clean up her hard drive a little bit, and install a new web browser on here. She's operating on one from three or four years (internet explorer 4.5) ago and can't even order anything online!
