This afternoon Rob and I met with Tina, our cat sitter. She's going to be watching Sydney and Amber and taking care of some things around the apartment when we're at my Mom's house. We went over everything with her, paid her, and just talked a bit. Both Amber and Sydney ran to greet her when she came in and both were vying for her attention. Definitely a good sign that she's very good to them while we're gone.

Later on Berek and Pita picked Rob and I up and the four of us headed out for the evening. Our first stop was The Game Zone. Rob bought me two packs of D&D miniatures (the new Giants of Legend packs) and some dice. He's a sweetie and wanted to get something for me since I paid Tina for cat sitting.

After that we didn't really know where to go. The plan was to take Colorado from Pasadena to Glendale and see if we ran into anything that looked interesting. We never made it to Glendale because we found a Barnes and Nobles in Pasadena. We went in there for a bit, browsed, and got some drinks at the Starbucks inside of the store.

From there we headed to the IHOP in Burbank for dinner. The food was tasty (I was in the mood for pancakes), but the service was crappy (one of the servers was really spaced out - either about to fall asleep or seriously stoned). There were only three people working there (one guy who seated people and took orders, the stoned guy who took orders and bussed tables, and the cook) and a decent number of people eating there. We were able to see some fireworks from the window next to our table.

After dinner Berek and Pita dropped Rob and I back off at home. We didn't go to any fireworks shows tonight, but that's fine with me. While they're pretty from a distance, the sound really hurts my ears if I'm at a show and the smoke messes with my asthma. So, it was nice to be able to see them from a distance out of the restaurant window.

All in all it was a fun day. Pita and Berek gave me the idea about picking up some books on turtles in the near future to see if I really would want one as a pet. I think I'll see if I can get my hands on some before I head out to my Mom's place. Might make for some good reading when Rob passes out next to me on the plane. The only bad things about the day were waking up with my back hurting (which once again subsided as the day went on) and the fact that I had milk with dinner (I'm a bit lactose intolerant and didn't have any lactaid with me) and so I've been having stomach problems ever since we got home. Other than my back and my tummy it was a good day.
