2004-07-12 9:48 PM Fish and Money Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: So happy to be out here!!! Read/Post Comments (1) Rob and I got up around 11am today. We didn't have anything major planned so it didn't matter what time we got out of bed (not so tomorrow when he has a dentist appointment). After showering and getting ready we headed out to lunch at Culver's. Then we made our way into Dubuque. Our first stop was at a Mississippi river museum / aquarium. I wanted to go because they had fishies there. That place really rocked. We got to see fishies, turtles, a really big alligator, crawfish, more fish, salamanders, frogs, otters, ducks, snakes, a squid, and even more fish. I had a lot of fun there. For those of you who don't know me, I'm a total fish nut and a place like an aquarium is like heaven to me. Hooray for fish! After the museum / aquarium we headed to the gambling boat. There's a casino boat on the Mississippi river. It doesn't go out on the water or anything, it just sits there, but because it is on the water you can gamble on it. I sucked at first, but ended up doing well. My Mom was a sweetie and gave Rob and I $50 each to play with. I played slots and video poker and ended up losing it all. I then played my usual $20 of my own money in $5 slots and lost that as well. I then met up with my Mom and as we were heading over to the poker tables where Rob was she pointed out a slot machine (dollar bets) with cows on it called Moooolah. I HAD to play the cow one. She thought I was nuts when I put another $20 of mine in it. It was a good decision though because I turned that $20 into $200 and ended up coming out ahead. Rob also did very well. He started out with that $50 (and never needed to use any of his own money) and came out with $515 (and that's after tipping the dealer)! He ended up getting four of a kind in something called "four card poker". Apparently, this is the best hand you can get and is a very rare occurence. My sweetie kicks ass. He usually has pretty good luck at poker tables. After the boat we headed over to the mall for a quick stop at LensCrafters. I need new glasses because my frames are old and starting erode and I think I need a new Rx as well. I wanted to see if they had any frames that I remotely liked (I'm very picky when it comes to my glasses). They did have some cool ones so I made an appointment with the eye doctor tomorrow after Rob's dental appointment. So, tomorrow I should have new glasses and Rob should have his cavities filled. After the LensCrafters stop Mom filled her car up with gas and we headed back to Galena for dinner. We had Chinese food at The House of China and then headed back to my Mom's place. Now we're doing the usual night time ritual of watching TV and chilling out. ----------
