Well, it's official. I have no more cell phone. As of today, my piece of shit phone died. Of course, the warranty ran out in August. The button that hangs up calls and turns the phone on and off no longer functions. It would cost as much to fix the phone as to buy a new one. And that's not something I can do right now.

I'd love to switch companies, but that's an $850 charge for breaking my contract. Not something I can afford.

To get a new phone with AT&T (and to get the rebate so I could afford that phone) I'd have to sign an even longer contract. And I won't do that, especially since I want to change providers ASAP.

Granted, it is possible to just pay out the nose without signing a new contract and get a phone, but that would mean I would have to dip into our savings. And that's something I won't do, especially since we're using some of that money to buy Rob a car.

My contract with AT&T comes up in February 2006. And even if my phone doesn't work, I have to pay the base charge for having service (which isn't cheap) every month.

*sigh* I'm really upset right now. I'm going to be paying for service for a phone I can't even use. I'm fine paying it if I have a useable phone, but to pay close to $70 a month for nothing? That's insane. My best bet might be to see if my Mom can get me a new phone for X-mas.

So, until further notice don't bother calling my cell. I don't have one and probably won't for a while.
