2005-05-23 3:47 PM Swap Meet Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Warm... our AC is having a hard time with this heat. Read/Post Comments (10) Yesterday Rob and I headed to the Swap Meet over near where Berek and Pita live. I think it's either in Woodland Hills or Canoga Park, I'm not sure which though. We gave the two of them a call when we got there and wandered around the first room before meeting up with them. I was a bit disappointed because two of my favorite booths were gone. The one with all the cool dragon furniture was gone and so was the one with the hand carved boxes. The weapons store was still there though and I ended up picking up a super cool trident (Rob thinks it's a pitchfork) that I'll end up mounting on one of our walls. We met up with Berek and Pita when we were in the second room. In there Rob bought me an amazing black velvet and lace cloak. It's super neat looking. We wandered around with Berek and Pita and eventually headed out of the Swap Meet and over to a local mall. We wandered a good part of the mall. Pita picked up some things in a candle store and I ended up getting some undershirts and panties at Lane Bryant. I was jazzed to see that this Lane Bryant had swimsuits in! We have a pool in our apartment complex, but I can't ever use it because I don't have a suit. Unfortunately, I still don't. While the swim suits themselves fit fine (and were actually flattering), they had "soft cup bras" attached to the lining and those were way too small for my boobs to fit into. The elastic at the bottom of the bra didn't even come halfway down my boobs. So, I still don't have a swimsuit. *sigh* Berek, Pita, and myself all picked up a super comfy pair of Nike flip flops at a shoe store because our feet were aching. We also went into the SPCA store where Rob and I got some toys for the cats (which Amber seems to love and Sydney is ignoring because it's not a little paper ball) and I picked up a blue rubber bracelet for Pita and myself that shows our support of the SPCA-LA. We then made our way out of the mall and headed to a nearby Toys R Us. Our trip to Toys R Us was shortlived due to the fact that the heat of the day was catching up with me. I'm very prone to heat stroke and was holding up pretty well until then. It was 105 outside and so the AC in the Swap Meet and at the mall wasn't holding up very well. And while it wasn't scorching in either place, it was still very warm for me. In Toys R Us I started feeling dizzy, faint, and nauseous. So, we got out of there and headed to dinner at The Pizza Cookery. Dinner was great, I've been there a few other times, but usually get some sort of sandwich and this time Rob and I split a pepperoni and fresh basil pizza. Yum! After dinner we made a stop in Tower and I picked up some blank CDs. We then made a brief stop at Barnes and Noble to check for some Era CDs I had been looking for (only Rob and Pita went in because I wasn't feeling very well), but they didn't have what we were looking for. After that we dropped Berek and Pita off at their place and headed home. I was exhausted so we watched the news, some Adult Swim, and passed out. Today is more of the same. Laundry (and lots of it), household chores, and job hunting. Not fun. I also learned a valuable lesson this afternoon - let Rob do all the cooking. I was out of sandwich meat and so I decided to try and make some rice for lunch. Rob always gets creative and mixes things into the rice and I thought I would do the same. Mistake. When he mixed mushrooms into it, it was amazing. We're out of mushrooms so I used cream of mushroom soup. Ew. It looked like wallpaper paste and tasted like sewage. So, I think I'll stick to simple things like cold cuts and leave the cooking up to Rob. ----------
