2005-05-25 3:38 PM So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Just kinda here. Read/Post Comments (2) Last night Rob and I headed out to see a movie. We were going to try and see The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy at the big AMC in Burbank, but there was no parking. So we ended up seeing a 6:30pm showing at the AMC 6. What to say about this movie. Hrm. I have very conflicting feelings about it. On one hand - if taken JUST as a movie - I really liked it. It was one of the better Sci-Fi movies I've ever seen. But when comparing it to the book I was rather disappointed. Zaphod was too much of a bumbling idiot (he's supposed to be super smart and a "rock star president"), Arthur was too suave (he's supposed to be the bumbling idiot), the whole "is she the one" thing between Arthur and Trillian was annoying, the movie deviated away from the book way too much, and the "restaurant at the end of the universe" isn't "on the other side of the universe", it's at the END of the universe... when the universe implodes in on itself. All of that, kind of annoyed me. I wish they would have just stuck to the plot of the book, I would have been much happier with the movie. The scenes they put in that were never in the book just didn't add anything to the story, in fact, I think it took away from it a bit. I'd still recommend this movie to people, but I think it should be seen only after reading the book and that people should go into it expecting something different than the book. I do need to find the soundtrack at some point because I now want the "So Long And Thanks For All The Fish" songs. After the movie we went to Chevy's for dinner. I ended up taking most of my dinner home with me because I just wasn't all that hungry. Still, it was yummy. On the way home we stopped off at the ATM and at Baskin Robbins because it's $1 cone night. Then we headed back home, watched the news, and went to sleep. ----------
